Magnetostrictive transmitters measure the float position, so density changes with temperature do not shift the reading. Hydrostatic transmitters measure pressure and need density compensation.

Palm oil handling and storage follow MPOB codes of practice; the codes set good practice but do not specify a measuring technology, so choose the method that fits your tank and records.
Approvals for tank instruments at your mill are set by DOSH and your own HSE rules — please confirm with them. Hazardous areas: our explosion-protected magnetostrictive models are SE-LX (flameproof) and SE-PR30 (intrinsically safe). Tell us the zone, gas group and temperature class; certificate details for the specified model come with the quotation.
Import duties and customs clearance are arranged by your forwarder or customs broker; quotations are FOB China.

Certifications we state site-wide: ISO 9001:2015, CE, RoHS and UKCA; ATEX/IECEx on selected hazardous-area models; UL on select models. Palm Oil Tank Level Measurement — FAQ

How accurate is a magnetostrictive level transmitter on a CPO tank?

The SE-LX series is supplied with 1 mm or 0.1 mm resolution and repeatability of ±1 mm or ±0.1 mm over 200–8000 mm. Because it measures the float position, the reading does not drift when CPO density changes with temperature. Overall tank accuracy also depends on float selection and the tank calibration table.

Can level and temperature be measured with one probe?

Our standard SGM and SE datasheets list level and, with two floats on SE-LX, interface level — not built-in temperature points. If you need temperature from the same probe, include it in your RFQ and we will confirm what can be supplied; otherwise use a separate temperature sensor.

Is hydrostatic level measurement affected by CPO density changes?

Yes. A hydrostatic transmitter measures liquid pressure, and pressure equals height times density. CPO density changes with temperature, so a hydrostatic reading needs density compensation in the PLC. A magnetostrictive float transmitter measures height directly and avoids this.

What approvals are needed for tank instruments in Malaysian mills?

This depends on your site classification and is set by DOSH and your own HSE requirements, so please confirm with them. If the tank area is a hazardous zone, our explosion-protected level models are the SE-LX series; certificate details for the specified model come with the quotation.

Can I add an electronic output to an existing magnetic level indicator?

Yes. The SE-LX10 straps onto the side of an existing magnetic level indicator and adds a 4–20 mA or RS485 output without opening the tank, over 200–8000 mm.

What are the minimum order and delivery terms?

The MOQ is one piece. Samples ship in 5–7 working days and production takes 3–5 weeks. Payment is 100% T/T in advance, quotations are FOB China, and the warranty is 12 months from delivery.
