About Magnetostrictive Sensor Downloads

This page provides the complete documentation library for SEGMENsensor magnetostrictive sensors. Available documents include one two-page datasheet per SGM / SE series (specifications, wiring, dimension drawings and ordering code); CE declarations, RoHS statements, Modbus RTU register maps and SSI settings are supplied on request. Each datasheet covers both the magnetostrictive liquid level and linear position sensor variants.

Engineers rely on these documents for installation planning, control system integration, mechanical interface design, and regulatory compliance sign-off. The dimensional drawings include thread sizes, body lengths, float clearance requirements, and connector pinouts. SSI protocol guides detail timing diagrams and bit-field layouts needed for PLC programming.

Replacing a magnetostrictive sensor that is already installed? Match stroke, output, mounting thread and connector on the magnetostrictive sensor replacement cross-reference, then download the datasheet of the matching series here.

All documents are available to download — no registration required. For STEP files, DXF drawings, or certificates not listed here, contact info@segmensensor.com with your model number for delivery within 24 hours.

Application Notes

Magnetostrictive sensors deliver absolute position measurement without requiring homing or recalibration after a power cycle. The following applications represent the most common integration scenarios covered in SEGMENsensor technical documentation.

Hydraulic Cylinder Position Control: Rod-style magnetostrictive sensors mount inside hydraulic cylinders to provide real-time piston position feedback for closed-loop servo control in mobile machinery, injection moulding machines, and hydraulic presses. SSI (SGM-PR10) or RS485 output connects directly to servo drives and controllers.

Fuel and Chemical Tank Level Monitoring: Float-based magnetostrictive level transmitters measure liquid levels in storage tanks containing fuel oil, diesel, chemicals, and water with repeatability down to ±0.005 mm (SGM-LS10). 4–20 mA and RS485 Modbus RTU outputs integrate directly with SCADA and tank management systems.

Hazardous Areas: the intrinsically safe SE-PR30 position sensor and the flameproof SE-LX10 / SE-LX20 / SE-LX30 level transmitters are used in chemical plants, tank farms and solvent storage. The certificate and marking for the ordered model are confirmed with the order.

FAQ

Magnetostrictive Sensor Downloads — FAQ

What documents are available for magnetostrictive sensors?
Documents include the SGM / SE series datasheets with dimensional drawings and ordering codes; CE declarations, RoHS statements and Modbus RTU / SSI settings are supplied on request.
Do datasheets include Modbus register maps?
The datasheets give the output options, wiring and ordering code. The Modbus RTU register map and SSI settings for your model are supplied with the order or on request.
Are magnetostrictive sensors certified for hazardous areas?
The SE-LX10, SE-LX20 and SE-LX30 level transmitters have a flameproof housing, and SE-PR30 is the intrinsically safe position sensor. The certificate and marking for the ordered model are confirmed with the order and supplied on request.
Can I get STEP files for magnetostrictive sensors?
Yes. STEP and DXF files are available on request. Email info@segmensensor.com with your model number — delivery within 24 hours.
What accuracy is listed in the datasheet?
Each series datasheet lists its own values. Example: SGM-PR10 / SGM-PE10 non-linearity <±0.01% FS (min ±50 µm), repeatability <±0.001% FS (min ±5 µm), 16-bit D/A analog resolution, temperature coefficient <30 ppm/°C; SGM-LS10 repeatability ±0.005 mm; SE-LX resolution 1 mm or 0.1 mm.
What communication protocols are supported?
Analog 4–20 mA, 0–20 mA, 0–10 V and 0–5 V (per series), RS485 Modbus RTU on all SGM series, and SSI on SGM-PR10 / SGM-PE10 (on request on SGM-PR20 and SGM-PF10). Profinet is on request for SGM-PR10 / PE10. SE-LX level transmitters offer 2-wire 4–20 mA + HART (parameters settable with a HART handheld communicator), 4-wire 4–20 mA / 0–10 V and RS485.
What is the maximum stroke length available?
Magnetostrictive stroke lengths range from 25mm to 8000mm across the rigid-rod and flexible-cable series.
Can magnetostrictive sensors work in explosive atmospheres?
Yes. Choose the flameproof SE-LX10, SE-LX20 or SE-LX30 level transmitters, or the intrinsically safe SE-PR30 position sensor (Ui 12.5 V, Ii 15 mA per datasheet). Send the required gas group and temperature class with your enquiry; the certificate and marking are confirmed with the order.
