How do I install the U12?

The U12 clamps onto the pipe in one piece, so there are no separate transducers to space and align.

  1. Choose a straight, full pipe

After a 90° bend, leave at least 10 pipe diameters upstream and 5 downstream, and pick a section that is always full.

  2. Prepare the pipe

Clean the pipe surface where the meter sits and fit the coupling pad or couplant.

  3. Clamp the meter on

Fit the clamp for your pipe size and tighten the screws evenly so the sensor sits flat on the pipe.

  4. Enter the pipe data

Set the pipe size and material in the menu, then read the flow.

Frequently asked questions

Will the U12 work on my pipe?

The U12 fits DN15–DN40 pipes as standard, or DN50–DN65 with the upgrade, carrying water or another single liquid without solids, in a full pipe. If you are unsure, send us the pipe size, material, liquid and temperature and our engineers will reply by email within one working day.

How is the U12 different from the U13?

Both are one-piece meters for small pipes. The U12 reads ±2% (±1% after calibration), lets you choose two of four outputs, reaches DN65 with the upgrade and offers a mini energy meter. The U13 is smaller, in an acid- and alkali-resistant PP glass-fibre housing, sold by pipe size from DN15 to DN40.

What does the price include?

The price is per unit and includes the U12 meter, a 2 m signal cable, coupling pad and couplant, clamp screws for your pipe size, the user manual and a factory calibration report. UPS shipping is added at checkout. Import duty and tax are not included; you pay them in your country on import.

Can the U12 measure heating or cooling energy?

Yes. Add the mini energy (BTU) meter in step 3: it fits an RTD module and a pair of clamp-on PT1000 temperature sensors with 9 m cable.

Which outputs can I have?

Two of four outputs are wired at the factory: 4–20 mA, RS485 Modbus, OCT pulse or one relay, at no extra cost. The EU M-Bus version replaces them with M-Bus only.

Do I pay import duty when the meter arrives?

Yes. Import duty, VAT or GST and any customs fees are paid by you as the importer, and the rates depend on your country. UPS or your customs broker will ask for payment before or at delivery. We send the commercial invoice and packing list with the shipment and by email, and help with customs questions about the product.

When will my order arrive?

We ship from our factory within 2 weeks of payment. UPS then usually takes 3–5 working days to deliver. The configurator shows an estimated delivery date before you pay.

Can I order 10 or more units?

Yes. For 10 units or more, email info@segmensensor.com with the part number and quantity. Our engineers recalculate the price for your quantity and reply by email.
