How do I install the U20?

The U20 sets up on the pipe in minutes for a survey, with no cutting and no shutdown.

  1. Enter the pipe data

Key in the pipe outside diameter, wall thickness, material and liquid. The meter shows the transducer spacing.

  2. Set the transducers on the rail

Slide the two transducers along the rail to the spacing shown, with couplant on their faces. Small pipes use the SMT bracket.

  3. Strap the rail to the pipe

Fit the rail along a straight, full section at 3 or 9 o'clock and tighten the straps.

  4. Read and log

Check the signal strength, read the flow and start SD-card logging at the interval you need.

Frequently asked questions

Is the U20 right for my job?

The U20 is for checking or surveying flow on many pipes: commissioning, energy audits, checking an installed meter. For a permanent measuring point, a wall-mount U10, U10S PRO or U11 is the better choice.

Can one U20 measure large and small pipes?

Yes. Order P2 or P2H for 25–1200 mm pipes and add a second set of F1 or F1H small-pipe transducers in step 3 for DN15–DN40.

What does the price include?

The price is per unit and includes the U20 handheld with its battery, one pair of transducers with rail or bracket, two 1.3 m pipe straps for the rail, steel chains, a tape measure, the charger with plug adapter, the output terminal box, an aluminium carry case, coupling compound, the user manual and a factory calibration report. UPS shipping is added at checkout. Import duty and tax are not included; you pay them in your country on import.

My pipe is larger than DN300. How many straps do I need?

The two pipe straps in the box are 1.3 m long and fit pipes up to DN300. Each transducer is held by one strap loop around the pipe, and the loop needs about 3.14 × the pipe outside diameter, plus a little to tighten. Extra straps are the same 1.3 m straps and join onto the standard ones, so every extra pair adds 1.3 m to both loops. Work out what your pipe needs and choose the number of extra pairs in step 1 of the configurator; they are charged per pair, and the price is shown before you pay. Spare pairs can be added under Options in step 3.

Can the U20 measure heating or cooling energy?

Yes. Add the energy option with a pair of clamp-on PT1000 sensors, or the RTD module only if you have your own PT1000 sensors.

Do I pay import duty when the meter arrives?

Yes. Import duty, VAT or GST and any customs fees are paid by you as the importer, and the rates depend on your country. UPS or your customs broker will ask for payment before or at delivery. We send the commercial invoice and packing list with the shipment and by email, and help with customs questions about the product.

When will my order arrive?

We ship from our factory within 2 weeks of payment. UPS then usually takes 3–5 working days to deliver. The configurator shows an estimated delivery date before you pay.

Can I order 10 or more units?

Yes. For 10 units or more, email info@segmensensor.com with the part number and quantity. Our engineers recalculate the price for your quantity and reply by email.
